It’s great to know that more and more women want to become a GIRL BOSS nowadays. Being an entrepreneur is not as easy as people think, especially when it comes to be a “femalentrepreneur”. For the women who are thinking to be an entrepreneur or already running their own business, as an experienced entrepreneur myself, I would like to share some of my advices with the women who are planning to be a GIRL BOSS.
/ KNOW YOURSELF – After you find out what you like, then you need to think and analyse yourself – your abilities, strengths and weaknesses for running such a business. Every person was born with special gifts, and what you’re passionate is unnecessarily related to your talents. However, I believe that if you’re really passionate about something you will always work very hard to improve yourself to achieve it. Being an entrepreneur doesn’t mean that you have to do everything by yourself, but at least you need to know what your pros and cons are, and find the people who have complementary skills.
/ FORM BUSINESS CONNECTIONS – Networking has been playing an essential role in the workplace – especially when you’re running a business yourself. However, networking could be very energy and time consuming if you don’t know how to network at an efficient way. What I mean here is that if you are not keen to expand your personal network, just for your business, save your energy and time from going to that kind of after work networking drinking events, but attending more your business related meetings, conferences instead. Furthermore, you don’t need to talk to everyone at the event, be selective means more efficient.
/ FOLLOW YOUR GUT INSTINCT – To be prepared that you will face a lot of difficulties, uncertainties and self-doubts. However this is the main part of being an entrepreneur. To be dedicated and persist are the essences to be successful. Just remember every time when you feel like giving up or getting lost in your business direction, think about why you started it, if the purpose for the market is still positive, all you need to do is just follow your gut instinct and drive it all the way to your vision.
/ ALWAYS OPEN MINDED – Believing in yourself and insisting what you have seen in your vision for the business, while at the same time being open minded to new ideas and solutions. People might not have the big picture you have in mind, but when you divide your big picture into small pieces, people who are specialists in the each field or stage can really help you to achieve in a faster way.
/ WORK-LIFE BALANCE – What is the hardest part to be a femalentrepreneur compared with businessmen? That’s work-life balance. Even though “feminism” has somehow been helping the equality between two genders. However, family will still remain one of the main priorities for women. It’s the fact we can’t change that women are the ones giving birth. Therefore, I believe that the definition of a successful girl boss is for the one who keeps well at work-life balance.
