This summer is noticeably hotter than ever before – I don’t really feel like doing anything except steeping myself in cool water to be honest, or just lazily perusing a book by the beach and lying there for the whole afternoon. Ah. To read, to sunbathe, to enjoy – does it sound a reasonable excuse for not going to work, boss? If you’re planning a trip for your summer holiday, and plus if you are lucky to be in Asia (Well, there are plenty of amazing tropic countries around South-east Asia that I love to visit), Langkawi, in Malaysia is one of the best choices I would recommend to you for your sunshine beach holiday.
I was there at this time last year, after I was burnt-out from my job (my job always keeps me busy in summer) and trying to escape from my real world for but a couple days (well…escape is kind of the necessaries in my life anyway), then Langkawi just came to my mind.
Hotel – I stayed in Four Points By Sheraton Resort in Langkawi which has an amazing view of the beach, especially when you’re swimming in the pool and the beach and blue sea are just adjacent to it. How good is life when you are just doing nothing? Soaking in the water, while having a glass of lemon soda or whatever your like: wine, beer, cocktail?
Food – Eating is a part of travelling fun, except trying local food while I’m visiting a city. I love to explore markets where I can find some traditional local dishes and street junk-food. For Malaysian cuisine as you know, curry laksa, satay, banana leaf and Hainanese chicken rice, which you just have to try when you’re there. However, if you’re lucky, you will have a chance to go to some special markets, like Sunday markets in the majority of western countries or local festival markets which serve street foods and traditional local snacks etc. I went to a food market; someone told me that the market was not always open; it’s like a festival market gathering for people to grab some cooked food.
Activities – No need for grand schemes when you’re having a sunshine beach holiday – just the beach and sea. Swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving should be on every traveller’s must-do list I suppose. I’m not exactly a good swimmer and have never tried scuba diving before I went to Langkawi island, if you can call sinking like a stone diving. Unexpectedly, I fell in love with this activity after my first dunk, and plan on doing more training to become ‘an amateur’ if I can later get a longer summer holiday.
Also, sailing should also be on your to-do list when you’re at such a gorgeous beach, place, location, thing. And what would you want to do after spending the whole day lounging on the beach and soaking in the sea? You guessed it: Spa! Nothing hits the spot better, which is surely just one of the reasons why we’re crazy about these amazing tropical vacation places, right girls?
Short stay in Penang – For my trip to Langkawi last year, I also had a chance to have a short stay in Penang, and then was able to stroll around the city to take some shots of it. I will explore this city more when next time I visit again.
Hong kong seems to still be in its midsummer craze betwixt profit and passion. Me thinks it be a good idea to spend a long weekend somewhere that has a clean beach and some unpolluted azure blue sea; Where should I go? Are you in?
