It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon after weeks of continuous raining in Hong Kong, so I thought it would be great to take my camera out to get some fresh air and find some sparks after becoming totally burnt out from this busy hot summer. I love Sheung Wan where everything is so multi-cultural and mixes oriental and western cultures perfectly, and I especially like walking around on the weekend as there it is always quiet and peaceful, unlike central Hong Kong which is always crowded with senseless shoppers in the giant malls. So I got my “Sunday Spark” just in front of one of my favourite cafes in HK named “Teakha” on Tai Ping Shan Street.
The Duality – I chanced upon two stunning girls standing there, hang on, should I go ask if I could take some pictures of them? I’m always too shy and struggle to take action and ask street stylists if I can take some photographs of them. I ended up realising that I have to get out of my comfort zone, otherwise it would be hard to become a street fashion photographer which I’m trying to be, well… I can’t always ask my friends to be my “the Street Stylist” right?
How beautiful it is when you’re sharing a sunny afternoon with the two gorgeous fashion bloggers Gabby and Nat who have their own fashion blog: The Duality, and I learned we all have some mutual appreciation for fashion. Somehow I’m crazy about the way they described themselves: “Gabby and Nat are friends based in Hong Kong with a mutual appreciation for handbags, alexander wang and xiao long bao.” Just so my kind of little elegant black humor, hard to understand? Anyway, just simply love it!
Nat – half Aussie and half Mauritian, who has deep and enchanting eyes, and lustrous skin with sexy lips, who could resist becoming enchanted by such a girl when she is standing on the street. Nat is from Australia, and just relocated to Hong Kong last year. It’s hard to image such a stylish gal working in a bank. For my outmoded thoughts, bankers always look bored, nothing about fashion I assumed. However, Nat is a real fashionista wearing a well-cut blue denim dress with Alexander Wang shoes and a Celine bag – such a pleasant surprise to know we all love these two fashion brands. Moreover, she was sporting a very eye-catching and extremely stylish Karen Walker when she was wearing them – one of my favourite brands of sunglasses! So now I know why she grabbed my attention when I first saw her out there.
Gabby – also being half Aussie and half Italian, who has the standards of both in oriental and western appreciations of feminine beauty. With a perfect face, a dazzling smile with the tall and well-balanced body figure. I suppose this kind of girl always grabs not only men’s attention but also women’s when she is on the street. Surprisingly, she is “That Girl” on Sassy Hong Kong website which I visit quite frequently recently. I didn’t recognise that she was the girl on the website even though I read the article of her a couple of weeks ago. As I said earlier on this blog that it was a beautiful chance encounter on a sunny weekend.
And what impressed me more about her is she is an entrepreneur of ZAVVA shots. I always admire pretty and intelligent people who I view as the inspiration of my life. Gabby looked very sweet in the day’s outfit. She was wearing an H&M T-shirt and Something Else short and Marc Jacos sunglasses, and again, Alexander Wong shoes. It goes without saying that they are big fans of Alexander Wong – yeah, I love him as well, he is talented at cuttings!
There are many beautiful chance encounters in our life every single day; what we need to do is just get out of our comfort zone to try to catch the beautiful moment. And enjoy it. I hope Gabby and Nat enjoyed the shooting time with me, and looking forward to our next time for a more formal photo shoot and an interview with The Duality.
Inspiring things are always worth taking action – this is gonna be my quote of the day x
