Happy Valentine’s Day! Today is full of love and flowers and chocolates, and pink and red and purple everywhere – the things every girl wants today. So where are my flowers and chocolates this year! Even my new colleague was trying to be sweet and said he would like to buy me some roses today! Thank you for being so kind-hearted! So, where is my Valentine and my one true love then?
I watched Victoria’s Secret fashion show on Pearl channel for their series collection for this year’s Valentine’s Day, which was so luxurious and dramatic. Spectacular; fantastic; then after that I got an idea – I have to write a fashion article about Victoria’s Secret for this Valentine’s Day, all about sexy, red, pink, love and the alluring angels.
As usual, for this year’s Valentine’s Day, Victoria’s Secret has prepared lots of steamy, enticing underwear for us. When I saw the commercial and promotion pictures, only one idea came to my mind – “I want to have one!” “You mean you want to have a piece of the underwear?” “Not, I want to have a Victoria’s Secret Angel!”
Using “Angels” as the brands trademark and soul, as a marketer, I would like to call myself “adman”, or a branding enthusiast; I would say the idea is just so brilliant! Selling underwear, especially trying to be a famous underwear retailer or brand company could be more difficult than other normal clothing companies – through the marketing methods that most top world-class fashion brands do, such as runway, seasonal promotions, since products like underwear don’t really have a seasonal difference – which might limit the company to keep getting attention from their target audiences all the time. But how come Vitoria’s Secret can? Yes, that’s why they created “Angels”!
Vitoria’s Secret is not only trying to brand the products itself, but also their “Angels” – that’s what they want you to be seduced. Every time when Vitoria’s Secret is holding a runway fashion show, it’s like their Angels have seasonal personal shows. Every model they select to be their angel, whatever the appearance or body figure, all are totally worthy to be crowned “ a perfect angel”.
These angels keep attracting people all the time, especially when they are on the runway – males imagine one day they will be able to bring an angel home whilst females are dreaming one day we can be a such perfect angel. If you say Victoria’s Secret is producing underwear, I would say: true, selling their products is still their ultimate purpose. However, peddling fantasies and producing passion and ideal dates is what they are actually selling, particularly when people in our modern society have become mechanised robots – that’s how Vitoria’s Secret catches people’s hearts.
I love watching Vitoria’s Secret fashion show! The stage is like a circus – magical surroundings and an extraordinarily sexy atmosphere. For their runway fashion shows, they always invite famous singers to rock the stages, for example, Rihanna, Justin bieber etc.
Vitoria’s Secret has made their angels not only famous but has made them become our dream date girls, the standard against which all beauty is measured – an angel. So which angel do you want to bring home for this year’s Valentine’s Day? Angel Candice Swanepoel or Angel Miranda Kerr? Considering not everyone can bring home an angel, maybe you can bring an angel underwear home for your love instead – that would be an ideal gift for your girlfriend in this love season.
