Tuesday – congratulations guys, we have all survived yesterday’s Monday blues. I somehow feel like Tuesdays are the actual day to start a long week’s work. Mondays are always filled with drama for me – the little blues inside the office mixed with inartistic and insipid coffee that is begrudgingly used only as a pick-me-up, while we yearn for the beautiful sunshine we can see dancing outside the window. I seem to hear the rays saying: “HEY, girl, come out and dance with me, all you need is photosynthesis, not today’s to-do-list.”
“Ok, Mr Sunshine, let’s invite a stunning Russian beauty to dance the Swan Lake with us, in the sun!”
For this time’s Street Stylist, I’m lucky to shoot for a professional photographer – a gorgeous Russian beauty. I know her because of her husband – a crazy Hong Kong born American. Before I was always thinking who could possibly stay with this guy – the most crazy/ extreme/ odd person among all my friends. But after I met her, I found the answer: this girl is very artistic, and crazy as well. I come to realise that I like people who are crazy in their own way – “crazy” means something different, something special and something positive for me, who likes normal, soulless people anyway?
Can you smell that? Spring is somewhere nearby. Every year, once Chinese New Year has just passed, Hong Kong will soon be full swing into so-called “early spring” – the period when the weather becomes very moody and protean, palpable, you can feel that spring is already here, but you can’t actually touch it. So what should you wear to welcome a new Spring, you guessed it: a trench coat – the evergreen item. A brown trench coat matches a lovely light rose colour silk blouse inside – flinging off the heavy thick winter coats and gloomy mood to welcome a season with flowers blossoming and a season which means “new born” for us. Finally, after the snow, we can breathe a wisp of fresh air.
A bohemian style shoulder bag with several tufts of tassels, and a pair of modern dance shoes, the colours are all brown, which match her trench coat today and her light rose blouse perfectly – now you can imagine a bohemian girl playing and dancing in a sunny garden full of spring flowers and perfume, free and released. “What is she dancing?” “Swan Lake” “Yes, I almost forgot she is Russian.” “Yes, she is dancing Swan Lake in the sun.”
Women sometimes can be sexy, just like when the stylist turns her head right and we catch a glimpse of her earring. Women can also be childish and innocent at the same time, just like when the stylist turns her head left to reveal a flash of her right ear and earring.
People always say women are not reasonable, I would say: women are indeed unreasonable, but our unreasonableness is based on something that we think is reasonable. Every woman is like a book – if you buy a book only based on its cover and never try to read it, then you will never understand it, and you waste all her exquisiteness in this way.
We have to admit that every woman has her own loveliness – you see their charm, but that doesn’t mean you get their peaches. But if you open the book and start to read it in detail, you will find that the content is much more interesting than its cover, otherwise it’s not worthy to be called a “book”, and would be nothing more than an empty vessel.
